Year-Round TOWER CAM
TOWER CAM, the museum's interactive exhibit, allows visitors the same view of the ocean and beach that the Surfmen had from the tower. A touch screen computer system, video monitor and video camera mounted on the Station's tower let visitors identify the many vessels that visit the port of Hampton Roads. Museum Upper Gallery. Saturday, October 1, 2005 ANNUAL PIG & OYSTER ROAST
4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Fort Story Club.

Join us for the Best Beach Party of the Year, and support your museum! Barbecue and all the fixin's, oysters on the half shell and oyster stew, live music by the Blues Exchange, great door prizes and lots of fun.

A pictorial exhibit of storms and hurricanes in the Hampton Roads area, and important information for surviving our hurricane season. Museum Lower Gallery.

A history of the lives and service of African Americans in the U. S. Coast Guard, highlighting the crews of the Cape Henry, VA, and Pea Island, NC, Life-Saving and Coast Guard Stations. Museum Lower Gallery.
March 7 - April 9, 2006 BEACH ART PARTNERS
We are once again proud to feature art from our Partner in Education schools, Virginia Beach Middle and W. T. Cooke Elementary. See how the leaders of tomorrow interpret their surroundings today. Museum Lower Gallery.
April 11 - May 29, 2006 CAPE HENRY: GATEWAY TO THE NEW WORLD
In celebration of the 400th Anniversary of the English's first landing in the new world, take a look at the development of Cape Henry from 1607 to the present with photographic images from the recently published book, 'The History of Cape Henry and Fort Story," by Fielding Lewis Tyler. May 30 - July 2, 2006 LIFEGUARDS: THE OTHER LIFESAVERS

Friday, June 2, 2006 ANNUAL LIFEGUARD REUNION
Join the Lifeguards past and present, and their families and friends for an evening of tall tales and refreshments! Museum West Lawn, 6-9 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Old Coast Guard Station.
July 3 - August 13, 2006 A DAY AT THE BEACH
Vintage photographic images are displayed that depict families enjoying the beach from the late 1800s to the 1960s. Includes 3 dimensional display, "Beach combing Treasures." Museum Lower Gallery.
August 14 - September 17, 2006 STORM WARNINGS
Photographic exhibit of famous hurricanes and nor'easters that have plagued Hampton Roads. Includes valuable information for storm readiness. Museum Lower Gallery.

October 24 - November 26, 2006 WOMEN IN THE COAST GUARD
A window into the lives of women who have served in the U. S. Coast Guard from World War I through the present day with a spotlight on the SPARS of World War II. Includes famous female lighthouse keepers and their contribution to life-saving. Museum Lower Gallery.
 

100 YEARS AND GOING STRONG!

Collage of activities held on 1 August 2003 at the museum in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the station's initial opening of the active Life-Saving season in 1903. RAdm Sally Bryce-O'Hara, Commander Fifth Coast Guard District presented the Meritorious Public Service Award to President of the Board RAdm William J. Ecker, USCG (Ret.). The ceremony was enhanced by the participation of the U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, the Yorktown Color Guard, Coast Guard Piper, Rescue Swimmer and presence offshore of the newest boat from Coast Guard Station, Little Creek. A reception followed. Lifeguard Reunion
 

Friday June 2, 2006
Friday evening 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Join the museum in celebrating our beach lifesavers! Refreshments, cap and t-shirt sales, and tall tales (they get better every year)!. All proceeds benefit the Old Coast Guard Station.
 


24th Annual Pig and Oyster Roast
 

Saturday, October 1, 2005. Join us at the popular event held in Fort Story, Va. This annual fundraiser attracts a fun crowd of locals who love good eating. All proceeds benefit the museum's conservation and preservation programs.
