The Old Coast Guard
Station has programs for all. All programs include the
Standards of Learning
for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Kingergarten - Fifth Grade Tour:
Students are taken on an oral history tour of the museum where they will discover why there was a need for the Life-Saving/Coast Guard Services with the aid of photographs, maps and charts. They will learn about the daily jobs of the surfmen, methods of rescue and changes within the Life-Saving/Coast Guard Service and to the surrounding community. Also included: rescue sequence game, shipwreck stories, storybook reading (K-2), videos, and TowerCAM.
All tours are tailored for the specific grade level.
Average tour: 60-90 minutes
Rates: $1.00 per student; $2.00 per adult

This is a slide program presented in your school that is a great addition to your "Disasters" unit in Language Arts. Cost is $40 per program.
