Regular Group Tour: Wrecks and Rescues

Guided tour of the Old Coast Guard Station. Hear stories of shipwrecks along the Virginia Coast and how the men of the Life-Saving Service (predecessor of today's US Coast Guard) helped those in distress. All Ages, 60-90 minutes.

Experiential Group Tour: The Surfman Chronicles

Kick the regular group tour up a notch with a costumed interpreter and hands-on activities! All Ages, 60-90 minutes.

Shipwrecks & Ghost Lore

Stroll along the boardwalk and hear stories of tragic shipwrecks, pirates who plundered the coast, and other eerie tales. Ages 6+, 60-90 minutes.

School of the Surfman

Experience a day in the life of a surfman. Take a guided tour and learn some of the skills practiced by these brave heroes such as knot tying and semaphore. Surfman's bag with activities and souvenirs provided. Ages 7-15, 2hours.

Storytime

Bring the kids to meet Grandma Beach or Captain Fishbones for storybook reading, activities, and fun! Ages 3-9, 45 minutes.

Scout Tours: Explore the Old Coast Guard Station

Scouts tour the museum and work together with a guide to complete a fact-finding mission and uncover soem fo the incredible feats and accomplishments of the Life-Saving Service and U.S. Coast Guard. Patches are available for girl scouts. 60 minutes.

Scout Tours: Girl Scout Badge Programs

We offer Brownie and Junior badge programs that include hands-on and make-and-take activities in addition to the "Explore the Old Coast Guard Station tour. Brownies: Listening to the Past; Juniors: Local Lore. 2.5 hours.

Accessibility:
* No handicap access to museum upper gallery.
** Approximately 3 blocks worth of walking involved in Shipwrecks & Ghost Lore program.

Year round (during normal operating hours only)

Sunday Noon - 5:00 PM
* Museum is closed on Monday October through Memorial Day.
** Evening tours available for Shipwrecks & Ghost Lore program. Advanced payment is required.

Booking:
3 weeks advanced notice is requested.

Bus/Coach Parking:
No onsite parking. Tour buses/coaches may park at the Virginia Beach Convention Center (19th Street and Parks Avenue). Guests may load on and off buses on Atlantic Avenue next to the museum.
